I probably love sarcasm to an extent that would be at least clinically interesting. So much so that people in conversations with me regularly reach a point where they seriously have to ask, "Do you really mean that, or is that sarcastic again?" And honestly, that's exactly where the fun begins for me.

Because sarcasm isn't just humor. Sarcasm is the last somewhat elegant way to still be honest in a world full of oversensitive emotional managers, without constantly sugar-coating things. Some laugh because they understand what's meant. Others look embarrassed, are offended, or respond dead seriously to something that was so obviously sarcastic it should have been framed. And yes, I admit, that amuses me greatly too.

Perhaps it's also simply because life is a game anyway, from which no one emerges a winner, and certainly not alive. So why the hell should one treat everything with such strained seriousness, as if someone at the end will award points for morally impeccable conduct and verbally sanitized restraint? No one does. The game ends the same for everyone. The only reasonably sensible question is whether you at least had a little fun along the way.
