The ICE Hockey League once again proved in the 2024/25 season why it is one of the most exciting ice hockey leagues in Europe. With thrilling games, surprising twists, and passionate fans, the season was a true highlight.

🏒 Review of the 2024/25 season

The season began with high expectations and ended with a deserved champion: EC Red Bull Salzburg . Salzburg delivered an impressive performance, securing the title in a dominant final series against EC-KAC .

The Red Bulls dominated the league with a strong offense and a solid defense. Players like John Hughes led the team with impressive performances. The final series against EC-KAC was a real highlight, with Salzburg winning the series 4-0.

EC-KAC also had a strong season and deservedly reached the final. With a mix of experienced players and young talent, they demonstrated their quality and will surely challenge again next season.

The Black Wings Linz surprised many by reaching the semifinals. Backed by a dedicated team and passionate fans, they demonstrated that they are among the league's top teams.

HC Bozen-Südtirol also reached the semifinals, proving once again that they can consistently play at a high level. Their combination of tactical discipline and individual skill made them a serious opponent.

The Graz99ers had a solid season and reached the playoffs. With a strong defense and effective counterattacks, they were a difficult opponent for many teams.

Fehérvár AV19 from Hungary impressed with their fighting spirit and reached the playoffs. Their matches were always exciting and characterized by high intensity.

The Vienna Capitals had a mixed season, but showed their class in crucial moments and reached the playoffs.

HC Innsbruck struggled with injury problems, but showed fighting spirit and was able to collect important points to place themselves in the midfield.

HC Pustertal had a difficult season, but showed their potential in some games and will certainly return stronger in the coming season.

HK Olimpija Ljubljana and thePioneers Vorarlberg gained valuable experience in the league and will certainly cause surprises in the future.

Villacher SV had a combative season and was able to secure important victories to establish itself in the midfield.

🔮 Outlook for the 2025/26 ICEHL season – team by team

After the exciting 2024/25 title race, the focus is now on the future: The 2025/26 ICE Hockey League is about to begin – with 13 teams, renewed energy, and a fresh Hungarian representative: Ferencváros TC from Budapest will replace the eliminated team from Asiago. Fans can look forward to new rivalries, intense derbies, and a few surprises.

Black Wings Linz

The Black Wings have established themselves as a top team. After a deep playoff run and some new additions to the defense, Linz is now looking to make a big splash. The pressure is growing – but so is the experience on the roster. The steel city dreams of the title.

EC Red Bull Salzburg

As reigning champions, Salzburg enter the new season as the hunted team. The Bulls have a deep squad, are cleverly managed, and tactically perfectly positioned. Anyone who wants to beat them will need perfection—or luck.

EC-KAC

The finalist from Klagenfurt remains hungry. Tradition meets passion, and the goal is clear: title number 33. The return of several key players is particularly making the hearts of the Red Jackets fans beat faster.

Fehervar AV19

The Devils from Székesfehérvár remain extremely dangerous. With aggressive forechecking and the typical Hungarian fighting spirit, they're always capable of an upset. European imports could make AV19 a real surprise package.

Ferencváros TC – NEW IN THE LEAGUE

Welcome, Fradi! The iconic club from Budapest is competing in the ICEHL for the first time – and bringing pure green and white excitement to the league. As the successor to the expelled team from Asiago, Ferencváros isn't just filling the void – they're looking to make history. The fans are considered extremely loyal, and home games promise goosebumps. From a sporting perspective, it will be interesting to see how quickly the team reaches ICEHL level – the foundation is certainly strong.

Graz99ers

The Styrian team is rebuilding. With new, young talent, they aim to get back into the top 6. The head coach and management are relying on a fast, aggressive system. The fans are hoping for consistency – to finally compete at the top again!

HC Bozen – South Tyrol

Bolzano remains dangerous. The South Tyroleans have once again made some clever purchases, relying on experience combined with Italian fire. They're aiming for a return to the final—and perhaps even more.

HC Innsbruck

The Sharks are caught between hope and reality. 2025 was a year of ups and downs. Now the focus should be on defensive stability. With a hungry squad, they want to finally establish consistency again.

HK Olimpija Ljubljana

The Dragons from Slovenia are difficult to predict. Once they get their speed and teamwork under control, they're extremely dangerous. A true dark horse for 25/26!

Pioneers Vorarlberg

The Vorarlberg team has established itself in the league – now it's time for step two: reaching the playoffs. With a new coach, a motivated squad, and a full stadium, the "Team of the Western Axis" wants to make a splash.

HC Pustertal

The Wolves have bled, fought – and learned. 2025 was a bitter season. Now they want to transform the pack into a predator again. The South Tyroleans are counting on their fan base – and on revenge.

Vienna Capitals

Vienna remains Vienna – strong, organized, and ambitious. The Caps have the potential to become champions if they fully utilize their offensive power. The Austrian capital wants to move up – and fast.

Villach SV

VSV wants to return to the big stage. After personnel turmoil, the 2025/26 season will be all about rebuilding – but with a lot of passion. As always, the Villach fans are united behind their team.
